My NaNoWriMo Round 3: Week 4

My NaNoWriMo Round 3: Week 4 is filled with Michigan snow

This week kept me on my toes! I had a lot of after-work events and commitments that kept me busy from sunrise to sunset.

I was hoping to get out of town this week – in November road trip fashion – but a heavy snowstorm hit on Saturday. Here’s the view of the snow from my window (well, the start of a 12-inch snowfall!), the inspiration to indoor activities and getting a lot done for NaNoWriMo.

Let’s jump right into it. Here’s what I accomplished this week on my National Novel Writing Month goals.

My Progress

Since last week, I submitted my play to four theatre opportunities as planned. Three opportunities were scattered around Chicago’s theatre scene, while one was a performance opportunity in New Jersey. It will be awhile until I hear back, but I’m keeping track of all theatres, conferences and workshops I’ve submitted to.

My Struggles

As I mentioned in my intro, I had a pretty busy week. I had to wake up an hour earlier than usual on most days to fit everything into my schedule (and I wake up at 6 most days). I’ve never loved sleep so much until this week.

However, tracking my progress on my blog post really pushed me to make time for this goal. So even though I was very tired on Thursday night, I dedicated that evening after work to getting my play out.

My Successes

I knew ahead of time that my week was going to be busy, so I spent all Sunday afternoon finding theatre submission opportunities. I have found that searching by a specific city pulls out richer results in Internet search, so I’ll try that again this upcoming week.

My Goals

Next week is Thanksgiving. That means lots of time spent traveling and with family. Stay tuned to see where we end up visiting during the holiday weekend.

Because of all this bustle, I’m going to repeat this week’s goal and submit my play to four more new opportunities.

November is coming close to an end! Are you reaching your NaNoWriMo goals? Share your stories below.
